FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Opening in Cherokee

A FEMA Disaster Recovery Center will open this weekend in Cherokee.

The recovery center will be located at the Cherokee County Emergency Management location at 322 Lake Street in Cherokee. The center will be open this coming Saturday, July 20th from 1 to 6pm, and will be open every day after that from 8am to 6pm until further notice.

Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management says the center will provide one-on-one help for those affected by recent flooding and severe storms. FEMA recovery specialists along with the U.S. Small Business Administration will provide information on available services, explain assistance programs, and help survivors complete or check the status of their applications.

Recovery centers are already open in Spencer, Estherville, Rock Valley, and Rock Rapids.
