Expect to see an increased presence of law enforcement on the roadways over the Thanksgiving holiday period.
The Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau is once again teaming up with law enforcement agencies across the state to promote safety with the theme “buckle up, every trip, every time.”
Last year during Thanksgiving week, 34 people died or suffered severe injuries on Iowa roads, with 40 percent of those victims not using their seatbelts.
Authorities also remind everyone that buzzed driving is drunk driving, and that it’s important to plan for a sober driver before heading out.
