An Excessive Heat Warning will now be in effect today (Thur) for much of the area.
The Excessive Heat Warning upgrade is now in effect today (Thur) from noon to 8pm for counties including Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Ida, and O’Brien. Heat index values could get as high as 107. Extreme heat and humidity in these areas will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
A Heat Advisory remains in effect today (Thur) from noon to 9pm for counties including Pocahontas and Palo Alto.
A Heat Advisory is in effect until 9pm tomorrow (Fri) for counties including Sac and Calhoun.
The National Weather Service reminds citizens to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles. When possible, reschedule strenuous outdoor activities to early morning or evening. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible.
