The Excessive Heat Warning has been extended statewide through most of tomorrow (Thur).
An Excessive Heat Warning for Buena Vista and all surrounding counties is now in effect until 7pm tomorrow (Thur).
The extreme heat and humidity significantly increases the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. The National Weather Service reminds citizens to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun and in an air-conditioned room, check up on relatives and neighbors especially those that might be susceptible to the heat, and don’t leave young children and pets unattended in vehicles.
If possible, schedule strenuous outdoor activities to early morning or evening. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. During time spent outdoors, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends taking frequent rest breaks in shaded air conditioned environments.
