Dry Conditions Lead to Decline in Iowa Corn and Soybeans

Increasingly dry conditions are having an effect on Iowa’s corn and soybeans.

The latest report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture says 76-percent of corn statewide is rated good-to-excellent, down four-percent from the previous week. Soybeans rated good-to-excellent fell by two-percent to 73-percent.

Drought conditions expanded statewide last week, and that included more Extreme Drought around the area. Northwest Iowa topsoil that is either short or very short of moisture is now at 69-percent, a six-percent increase from the previous week.
