Drought Situation Looks a Little Better Thanks to Last Week’s Rain

Rain last week further improved drought conditions in Iowa.

According to the most recent Iowa Drought Monitor map, only a little over two percent of the state is now dealing with Severe Drought, a drop of over ten percent from the previous week. The only Severe Drought in the state is in portions of Sioux, Plymouth, and Woodbury counties. The rest of northwest Iowa has Moderate Drought. Over an inch and three-tenths of rain was measured last week outside the Storm Lake Radio stations.

Over 60 percent of Iowa is experiencing some level of drought, which is down slightly from the previous week. Only a few areas in southern Iowa have no drought conditions.
