One person has died and another was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Sac County over the weekend.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, and accident happened around 8pm Sunday south of Lake View near the intersection of 350th Street and Perkins Avenue. The vehicle entered a ditch, struck and broke an electrical pole, struck a tree, overturned, and entered a pond. The front end of the vehicle ended up submerged in water.
The driver, 22-year-old Oliver Massman of Holmen, Wisconsin was pronounced dead after life-saving measures were attempted, but were unsuccessful. The passenger was transported to the Loring Hospital in Sac City, and was later taken to MercyOne in Sioux City. Authorities say speeding and alcohol are suspected factors in the accident.
