Corn Harvest Essentially Finished

Corn harvested for grain in Iowa is virtually complete, according to the final USDA Crop Progress Report for 2024.

Field activities slowed down last week with reports of fall tillage and fertilizer and manure applications wrapping up. There were over four days suitable for fieldwork in northwest Iowa and statewide last week.

58 percent of topsoil in northwest Iowa has adequate moisture, with 41 percent short or very short, and one percent surplus.

43 percent of northwest Iowa subsoil has adequate moisture, with 57 percent short or very short.
