The amount of corn harvested for grain in Iowa has doubled in the last week, while soybeans harvested did even better than that.
According to the USDA Crop Progress Report, corn harvested statewide is now at 22 percent, which is two days behind last year, but one day ahead of the five-year average. 21 percent of corn in northwest Iowa has been harvested. 77 percent of corn in Iowa is rated good-to-excellent, the same as last week.
Soybeans harvested for grain in Iowa reached 58 percent, which is four days ahead of last year, and one week ahead of the five-year average. In northwest Iowa, 65 percent of soybeans have been harvested. Soybeans rated good-to-excellent fell slightly to 76 percent.

Warm, dry, and windy conditions last week resulted in some combine and other equipment fires across the state.
In northwest Iowa, 37 percent of topsoil has adequate moisture, with 24 percent very short, and 39 percent short. 45 percent of northwest Iowa subsoil has adequate moisture, with 14 percent very short, and 41 percent short.
