The City of Storm Lake and Buena Vista County Public Health will hold a brief dedication event next week to celebrate the addition of two grant-funded water fountains to highly used recreation areas in City parks.
The event will be held behind the Storm Lake Police Department in Seneca Park at 4:30pm on Tuesday, October 15th. The public is invited. A community barbecue will be held, and a limited supply of Storm Lake water bottles will be given away.
The water fountains will be located in Seneca and Chautauqua Parks. The bright-blue powder-coated devices feature an ADA-approved accessible drinking fountain, a quick-action bottle filler station, and a pet water bowl. They also contain an in-line charcoal filter to ensure the highest possible quality of drinking water.
The fountains were made possible by the Rethink Your Drink program funded by the Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation. Oral health was identified as one of the top three areas of concern in Buena Vista County’s most recent community health assessment.
