One person died and three others were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Palo Alto County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 32-year-old Desiree Sternhagen of Janesville, Minnesota was driving a 2013 Kia southbound on 480th Avenue and failed to stop at the intersection with 370th Street. Troopers say she collided with a 2018 Mitsubishi driven by 34-year-old Mathia Nieves of Emmetsburg, who was westbound on 370th Street. A passenger in the vehicle driven by Nieves, 67-year-old Ernest Manwarren of Emmetsburg, died in the crash.
Nieves and another passenger in her vehicle, 33-year-old Justin Manwarren of Emmetsburg, along with Sternhagen, the driver of the other vehicle, were all taken to Palo Alto County Hospital with serious injuries.
