City of Storm Lake Receives Tree-Planting Grant

The City of Storm Lake will be getting a grant to assist in tree planting efforts.

The four-thousand dollar grant from Alliant Energy’s Community Tree Program and the One Million Trees Initiative will go toward tree purchases, and is in coordination with the nonprofit Trees Forever program. The City of Storm Lake applied for the grant to help replace some of the trees that were lost due to Emerald Ash Borer and storm damage on public property. The City is hoping to involve this season’s volunteerism efforts in the plantings.

Alliant Energy’s initiative is to provide for one million trees to be planted across Iowa and Wisconsin, one tree for each resident in its service region, by the year 2030.
