A Cherokee woman was among three people injured in a two-vehicle accident over the weekend in Sioux County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened shortly after 11:45am Sunday at the north junction of U.S. Highways 75 and 18. 83-year-old James Kooima of Rock Valley was driving northbound on Highway 75, turning left onto Highway 18. 63-year-old Gaylene Hultman of Cherokee was driving southbound on Highway 75 and collided with Kooima’s vehicle. The vehicle Kooima was driving overturned. Both vehicles came to rest in the same corner of the intersection.
Hultman was taken to the hospital in Sioux Center, while Kooima was taken to another hospital. A passenger in Kooima’s vehicle was transported via helicopter to Sioux Falls. All three individuals were wearing their seat belts.
