Cherokee County Emergency Management provided an update on the flooding situation there late last (Mon) night.
The Little Sioux River in Cherokee unofficially crested at over 33 feet Monday morning. The river there dropped 12 to 14 inches throughout the day. Road crews are planning to do inspections, fix shoulders/roads, and approaches as soon as water recedes. Sewer system pumping is ongoing and progress is being seen. The water system in Cherokee is running at full capacity. The sewer treatment plant is still flooded out, along with the Beech Street lift station. Sewer use conservation is still requested.
Several churches in Cherokee County have offered to assist in cleanup and recovery efforts.
