Charges Filed Against Woman Who Displayed a Handgun in a Storm Lake Domestic Incident Last Week

Charges have been filed against a woman involved in a domestic disturbance that involved a firearm recently in Storm Lake.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were called to the residence at 704 Chloe Lane late in the night on Friday, September 6th. Police allege a domestic disturbance occurred between a male and female at the residence, in which the female armed herself with a handgun and threatened self-harm. No injuries were reported. The female was taken into custody and transported to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.

Police set up a perimeter upon arriving at the residence. The occupants exited after approximately 20 minutes, and were detained without incident.

This past Monday, September 9th, Storm Lake Police filed charges against 33-year-old Phonesavanh Hang in connection to the incident including 1st Degree Burglary, a class B felony…Domestic Abuse Assault With a Dangerous Weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor…and 1st Offense Possession of Marijuana, a serious misdemeanor.

Police allege during the evening that the incident took place, Hang entered the residence without permission, and an argument ensued. Hang allegedly armed herself with a handgun, but ultimately surrendered on scene without incident. Hang was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail this past Monday on a ten thousand dollar bond.
