Governor Kim Reynolds on Wednesday announced 40-million dollars in grant funding for 24 projects, including one locally, through the Nonprofit Innovation Fund.
The Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault has been awarded over 515-thousand dollars to repair and update the New Leaf thrift shop in Cherokee. The New Leaf’s proceeds benefit survivors of sexual assault. The award represents 90-percent of the total project cost of 1.3-million dollars.
The 20-million dollar grant program was announced in May, and it doubles the original investment in shovel-ready infrastructure projects that will enable Iowa nonprofits to expand services or help more Iowans. Eligible expenses for infrastructure projects include construction costs, acquisition, site development, engineering, and architectural services. Funds must be obtained by the end of the year 2024.
Funding for the grant opportunity is made possible through the federal American Rescue Plan Act.
