The Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors at their meeting tomorrow (Tues) are expected to take action on a transfer agreement with the Iowa DNR pertaining to the Storm Lake Marina near Casino Beach.
Discussions have been ongoing to allow the marina to be transferred from the state to county ownership. BV County and the DNR met this past Friday to iron out the agreement. The marina transfer agreement is scheduled to be addressed from 9 to 9:20am tomorrow (Tues) during the Supervisors meeting at the BV County Courthouse.
A subcommittee was formed last year to provide facts regarding the marina situation to the BV County Conservation Board. During a public meeting last week, subcommittee spokesperson Jennifer Felton said the county could officially gain possession of the marina this spring for open water season.
The subcommittee is offering three options for the property which include a full marina…nature center with a county conservation shop…or a restaurant/bar with a conservation shop. The Conservation Board will make the final decision.
The full marina and restaurant/bar options would each require a 3rd party vendor. Anyone interested in becoming a 3rd party vendor at the marina can apply through February 23rd. Forms can be found on the BV County or BV Conservation websites, at Storm Lake United, among other locations.
