BV Supervisors Approve Courthouse Voting Location Change for Upcoming Elections

The Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors this (Tues) morning approved requests by Election Deputy Karla Ahrendsen to change the voting location in the courthouse for the upcoming elections.

Voting will be conducted in the supervisor’s meeting room rather than the downstairs public meeting room for both the Early Elementary School 2nd phase bond vote next Tuesday, September 13th, and the general election in November…(audio clip below)

Ahrendsen said it’s too late in the time frame to move the precinct voting out of the courthouse entirely this year. The county has been looking into obtaining another location for the auditor and election departments. The Supervisors meeting next Tuesday will be moved into the public meeting room.

The next phase of the Early Elementary School would add a 1st grade wing to the building. Property taxes would NOT be affected if the bond passes. Ahrendsen isn’t sure what the turnout will be for the bond vote, as only around 30 absentee ballots have been received. Absentee voting for the bond issue will continue until 4:30pm next Monday. On Tuesday, voting will be held at normal precinct locations from 7am to 8pm.

The general election will be on November 8th.
