A few members of the Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors have been appointed to serve on a newly formed marina fact-finding subcommittee.
The Board on Tuesday voted to appoint Supervisors Paul Merten and Kathy Croker to be members, with Supervisor Dan Hartman as an alternate.
The subcommittee also includes BV Conservation Board members Jeff Kestel and Erica Larson, along with Jennifer Felton and Andy Goettsch representing the public and the “Re-Fun The Lake” campaign.
Merten and Conservation Board Director Greg Johnson stressed that this is only a subcommittee…
Last month, the Supervisors approved a resolution that possibly paves the way for the Casino Beach Marina to be transferred to county ownership. The BV Conservation Board has expressed interest in taking over the day-to-day operations of the facility.
The “Re-Fun The Lake” campaign was formed this summer by Tom Fitzpatrick to encourage members of the public to speak up about the marina, especially those who want to see the marina once again offer basic and fun services.
Johnson said the BV conservation department’s facilities have been rented almost every weekend this summer.
