BV County Supervisors Pass Opening Reading of Wind Energy Ordinance

No comments were made at a public hearing, and the Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors this (Mon) morning subsequently passed the 1st reading of a wind energy ordinance for the county.

The first-of-its-kind ordinance addresses standards, conditions, application, and approval for the construction and maintenance of wind energy devices, especially new turbines, within BV County. Wind energy devices installed prior to the adoption of the conversion system are exempt from the ordinance and any future updates. MidAmerican Energy has approximately 30 wind turbines that are operating in the southwest portion of BV County.

The supervisors still need to pass two more readings of the ordinance before it goes into effect.
