A full-scale disaster exercise will be conducted in Buena Vista County tomorrow (Tues) evening.
According to information provided by BV County Emergency Management Coordinator Aimee Barritt, the event will be held starting at approximately 6pm on Tuesday, September 19th, and ending before 9pm. The exercise is simulated to be in the City of Storm Lake, but the actual exercise will be held on the railroad siding at the Platinum Crush plant between Storm Lake and Alta due to space needs.
Citizens may hear sirens and see emergency response actions tomorrow (Tues) evening during the exercise, but keep in mind that it’s only training and not an actual disaster. There will not be a makeup date if there happens to be inclement weather.
The Storm Lake, Alta, and Newell Fire Departments are partnering with the Canadian National Railroad to conduct the exercise and training.
