Broadband Infrastructure Grants Awarded

The Department of Management Division is awarding a total of nearly 149 million dollars as part of the Empower Rural Iowa Broadband Grant program.

39 broadband provider applications representing 47 Iowa counties are receiving funding.

The Webster-Calhoun Cooperative Telephone Association is receiving over 1.3 million dollars in grant money. They serve communities including Manson, Lake City, and Rockwell City.

Mediacom is receiving funding of over 19 million dollars.

This round of grant funds will be used to incentivize broadband infrastructure build-out in the newly established Broadband Intervention Zones. A total of 96 BIZ zones were created across the state following feedback from 55 public meetings in Iowa communities. These areas are deemed to have the highest need for broadband infrastructure expansion.
