Pocahontas County voters will decide on a new law enforcement center as part of November’s general election.
A minimum of 18 jail cells are needed to meet classification requirements, according to Pocahontas County Sheriff Steve Nelson. The public will be asked to support the issuance of up to 8.5 million dollars in bonds in the event bids come in higher, but only the necessary amount will be collected.
The Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office and County Supervisors have held informational meetings in communities throughout the county. 60 percent approval is needed for the bond issue to pass.
The general election will be held on Tuesday, November 7th.
