The school year is getting underway this week in Storm Lake, and more school supplies have been donated to Storm Lake Community School District students this year through the local BLESS project.
A total of 832 students received school supplies, up from 744 last year. This marks the 9th year of the BLESS project, which is organized in conjunction with the Storm Lake United Methodist Church. Over 50 volunteers helped with the project this year. BLESS stands for “Bless and Love Everyone School Supplies.”
In a statement, Superintendent Dr. Stacey Cole said the district is grateful for the BLESS project and all that the amazing volunteers do for students and the community. She said the district is incredibly fortunate to have such an amazing community with such big hearts.
