Black Hawk Lake Dredging Winding Down

The second and final dredging season on Black Hawk Lake near Lake View is expected to wrap up this week.

According to a news release from the Iowa DNR, an additional two to three weeks of site cleanup and contractor demobilization will follow the dredging work. The Ice House Point portion of Black Hawk State Park, which includes the public boat ramp on the south shore, will be closed next week for a minimum of three days. The contractor will demobilize the dredge and in-lake pipe during that time, and will remove all remaining equipment used for the project after the 4th of July holiday.

Boaters and other users of Black Hawk Lake are urged to use caution as the dredging effort is being completed. The dredging will improve overall water quality, fish habitat, and recreational opportunities.
