A bicyclist who failed to stop at an intersection was struck by a vehicle earlier this week in Storm Lake.
According to the Storm Lake Police Department, the incident happened shortly after 3pm Monday at the intersection of 12th Street and Lake Avenue. Police conducted an on-scene investigation and allege 21-year-old Cyrus Pearson of Storm Lake was riding a bicycle eastbound on 12th Street when he failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Lake Avenue. Pearson was struck by a northbound 2017 Nissan driven by 60-year-old Jose Gaytan-Otero of Storm Lake.
Pearson sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment. The incident remains under investigation.
