Berg Family Receiving Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award

A local farm family is being recognized for their commitment to agriculture, the environment, and their community.

The family of Josh and Kelli Berg will be presented with a Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award. The award will be given as part of an event tomorrow (Fri) at 11am at the Berg family farm at 2041 270th Street in Early. The award will be presented on behalf of Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig. Grant Menke, who is the Iowa Deputy Secretary of Ag, will be on hand for the event.

Berg Farm Enterprises raises corn, soybeans, finisher turkeys, and brooder poultry. The Bergs utilize the latest technology to ensure their birds live in a low-stress environment. The couple is actively involved in the Sac County Farm Bureau, Iowa Turkey Federation, and are involved in numerous committees and events for the Storm Lake St. Mary’s school and St. Mary’s church.

The Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award is made possible in part by the Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers. The award is named in memory of longtime farm broadcaster Gary Wergin.
