A Battle Creek man was hospitalized due to a gun shot late last week.
According to the Ida County Sheriff’s Office, the county communications center received a 911 call at approximately 11:14 Friday morning regarding gun shots fired in the 300 block of East 5th Street in Battle Creek. Authorities discovered that 53-year-old Kevin Blume was suffering from a single gunshot wound. Blume was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City. There was no word on his condition.
The investigation has been ongoing. The Ida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Battle Creek and Ida Grove Ambulances, Ida County EMS, the Woodbury and Monona County Sheriff’s Offices, Iowa State Patrol, and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
