A northwest Iowa man on Monday received a Governor’s Life Saving award during a ceremony at the statehouse in Des Moines.
The award was presented to Andrew Krieg of Cylinder. Krieg, a farm hand in rural Palo Alto County, rescued an elderly person from a burning home on November 28th of last year. Someone who noticed smoke coming from the home called Krieg and asked him to drive over and check. Krieg also rescued a dog from the burning structure.
Bayens said the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office described Krieg as a “farmer, neighbor, and an exceptional human being.
