Area Lakes Ice Condition Update

Ice continues to be variable on area lakes, with thickness typically between eight and 14 inches.

According to the Iowa DNR, Storm Lake is between ten and 13 inches thick. Conditions vary, so check ice thickness often as you make your way out.

The aeration system in Town Bay on Black Hawk Lake is operating. Expect thin ice and open water in Town Bay. Ice thickness is ten to 12 inches off of the Ice House boat ramp, which is the best ice on the lake.
