Buena Vista County had 7,535 general election ballots cast, according to unofficial results released last (Tues) night. BV County had a nearly 63 percent turnout among registered voters.
Sac County voters voted down a public measure to allow 10.9 million dollars in general obligation bonds to go toward construction of a new county jail. Just under 59 percent voted in favor of the measure. 60 percent approval was needed for passage.
Another public measure in Sac County to fund EMS Services in the county for up to 15 years passed with 74 percent in favor. The measure will add 75 cents per one thousand dollar value.
Kristy Gilbert won the race for Ida County Auditor with 65 percent of the vote.
For Pocahontas County Board of Supervisors in District 1, Peter Seehusen with 54 percent of the vote defeated Jeffrey Ives.
In Cherokee County, Shane Bellefy defeated Stephanie Carr for Board of Supervisors District 5 representative with 63 percent of the vote.
For District 5 State Representative, Republican Zack Dieken defeated Michael Schnoes with 73 percent of the vote.
For District 7 State Representative, Republican Mike Sexton defeated Martin Podraza with 83 percent of the vote.
For State Representative in District 13, Travis Sitzmann won with 73 percent of the vote.
For District 12 State Representative, Republican Steven Holt defeated Democrat Dustin Durbin with 74 percent of the vote.
In State Senate District 6, Republican Jason Schultz defeated Libertarian David Davis with 81 percent of the vote.
Republican Randy Feenstra was elected to a 3rd term to represent Iowa in the U.S. House’s 4th Congressional District. Feenstra defeated Democrat Ryan Melton. Feenstra has garnered 70 percent of the vote with 35 of 36 counties reporting.
