The Storm Lake City Council this week on a 3-1 vote approved an annual pigeon license fee.
This follows the council’s recent approval of an ordinance revision that states that the maximum number of domestic pigeons kept on a property shall not exceed 100. Council member Kevin McKinney, who previously voted against allowing that many pigeons per property, voted against the permit fee. McKinney took issue with language that states that the fee would be 100 dollars annually per unit for a homing pigeon license for a license of 100 pigeons or less…
McKinney said the term “unit” is too vague. Keri Navratil is the Storm Lake City Manager…
Navratil said current city and zoning nuisance ordinances will have to be followed.
