Altercation Leads to Several Charges Against Storm Lake Man

An incident over the weekend between two individuals resulted in multiple charges against a Storm Lake man.

According to Storm Lake Police, two vehicles were parked in the front parking area of the police station at around 7am on Sunday. The driver of one of the vehicles told officers that they were being followed by the other vehicle, and drove to the police station for safety. The victim further reported that upon arriving at the police station, a man identified as 27-year-old Bentrickson Mallarme opened the door to the victim’s vehicle, engaged in an argument, then struck the victim in the chest. A Storm Lake Police officer who was driving past the department at that time intervened and took Mallarme into custody without incident. Mallarme was allegedly showing signs of alcohol impairment.

Mallarme was charged with 2nd Degree Burglary, a class C felony…False Imprisonment and 1st Offense Operating While Intoxicated, both serious misdemeanors…and Assault and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid Driver’s License, both simple misdemeanors. Mallarme was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a bond of over 13-thousand 100-dollars.
