An Alta man was taken to the hospital after an accident in Primghar earlier this week.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 1pm on Monday, 71-year-old Ricky Mason of Alta was driving a 2024 GMC SUV southbound on South Hayes Avenue in Primghar. 50-year-old Jennifer Haafke of Sheldon was westbound on 3rd Street Southeast in a 2013 Ford SUV. The report says that Mason stated he did not see or remember stopping at the posted stop sign at the intersection. Haafke stated she did not see Mason until the vehicle was right in front of her, and she struck it.
Mason was transported by the Paullina Ambulance to the Cherokee Regional Medical Center Hospital.
Both vehicles sustained five thousand dollars in damage. Mason was charged with Failure to Obey a Stop Sign and Yield Right of Way. Haafke was Charged with No Insurance Accident Related and First Offense Operating While Intoxicated.
