Lake Ice Thickness
January 24, 2020 1:13pm
Currently, the ice thickness of Storm Lake, including Little Storm Lake, is about 6 - 15 inches, with thinner ice on the east part of the lake and other areas that were open two weeks ago. Use caution and avoid open areas, seams and discolored ice that may be unsafe.
The ice thickness of Black Hawk Lake ranges from 9 - 15 inches. Conditions are more variable in the east basin of the lake, so use caution as there may be thin and open areas.
Snow coverage varies on all lakes, so for your own safety, use caution walking or driving around any lake and stay aware of your surroundings.
