Iowa Finance Authority Awards Local Housing Trust Fund Grants

The Iowa Finance Authority has awarded more than six-point-four million dollars in grants to 27 Local Housing Trust Funds to support local affordable housing initiatives.

The Northwest Iowa Regional Housing Trust Fund, which serves Buena Vista and Clay Counties, is getting over 273-thousand dollars.

The Homeward Housing Trust Fund, which serves Pocahontas and Calhoun Counties, is getting over 260-thousand dollars.

The Council of Governments Housing, which serves Sac County, is getting over 220-thousand dollars.

The Western Iowa Community Improvement Regional Housing Trust Fund is getting more than 219-thousand dollars. They serve Ida and Cherokee Counties.

The grant awards are made available through the Local Housing Trust Fund program, and are expected to assist more than 25-hundred families.

The grant funds will be used for initiatives such as preserving aging housing stock, subsidizing local rental and down payment assistance programs, providing low-interest loans or grants to assist Iowans with home rehabilitation, financing construction of new single-family housing for low-income Iowans and supporting housing for persons with disabilities and homeless assistance programs.
