December 09, 2019 6:34am
(Cleghorn)-- Officials with the Spencer field office of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources are investigating a manure discharge near Cleghorn in northern Cherokee county.
Staff members traced the run-off to the Tentinger Feedlot. The DNR says the manure, which had recently been applied to a field, was getting into a tributary of Bear Creek about four miles northeast of Cleghorn. DNR staff members are working with the owner of the feedlot to stop the discharge.
The DNR says no fish, dead or alive, were seen in the stream.
