Des Moines Woman Arrested with Marijuana and Scale

(Storm Lake, IA) -- On Wednesday a Storm Lake Police Officer stopped a vehicle near West 5th and Ontario Street for a traffic violation.
Upon making contact with the driver identified as Ashley Miranda, age 19 of Des Moines, IA police allege they detected the odor of marijuana coming from Miranda’s vehicle.
Police towed the vehicle, releasing the driver and acquired a search warrant for the vehicle. Upon executing the search warrant the SLPD located and seized a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a digital scale.
Following an investigation on Thursday evening (12-5-2019) the SLPD arrested Miranda and charged her with Possession of a Controlled Substance - Marijuana (serious misdemeanor), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and No Valid Driver’s License (both simple misdemeanors). She was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $1300.00 bond.
