Cherokee/BV Hazerdous Waste Agency Receives Grant
October 18, 2019 1:09pm
The Cherokee/Buena Vista Household Hazardous Waste Agency on Wednesday of this week was awarded a “Regional Collection Center Innovation Grant” from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
The purpose of the grant is to provide funding to insulate the receiving, sorting and lab packing building. In addition to insulating the building, updates will include replacing the roof, overhead doors, installing heaters and installing a ventilation system. The facility in Cherokee was established in 1999, and is one of the oldest Regional Collection Center facilities in the State of Iowa. Insulating and heating the facility will allow the agency to increase convenience and participation by allowing for year-round collection of hazardous materials from both residents and qualifying small businesses.
The CB Household Hazardous Waste Agency serves Cherokee, Buena Vista, Ida, and Sac Counties.
