A federal lawsuit stemming from the 2015 bird flu outbreak that affected a northwest Iowa egg laying facility has been delayed.
Sunrise Farms of Harris, a subsidiary of Sioux Falls-based Sonstegard Foods, filed a lawsuit in Osceola County District court in late January of 2018. The suit was later transferred to federal court. It challenges disinfection processes that were mandated by the U.S. Government in response to the outbreak. The company claims it caused irreparable damage to equipment.
A jury trial in Sioux City was originally scheduled for January 27th, 2020. It's been pushed back to November 30th, 2020.
