Poultry Building Fire Near Peterson

Four fire departments were called to a fire at a poultry building in southern Clay County Monday.
About 8:20 Monday morning the Clay County Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a large poultry building on fire located at 1635 470th Street, about four miles northeast of Peterson, in the Sioux Rapids Fire District. Clay County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Sioux Rapids Fire Rescue determined no individuals were inside.
Mutual Aid was requested from the Royal, Peterson, Webb Fire/Rescue Departments, as well as Area Emergency Medical Service and Clay County Emergency Management.
An undetermined amount of chickens were lost, as well as a dollar amount loss to the building. Fire Crews were on scene until about 4:30 Monday afternoon.
