Additional City Funding Requested for This Year’s Star Spangled Spangled Spectacular ; More Entertainment Planned

No action was taken, but Storm Lake City Council members indicated that they are in favor of the City providing additional funding for this year’s Star Spangled Spectacular during a work session at Monday’s meeting.

Leaders of the Spectacular are asking for six-thousand dollars in one-time funding support for this year’s 4th of July event. Spectacular Commodore Jared Eggers said they’re looking to provide a bigger and better celebration this year to coincide with the City’s sesquicentennial year…(audio clip below :33 )

The City of Storm Lake hasn’t provided funding for the Spectacular in the past. City Manager Keri Navratil said outside agency funding has typically come from the budget process…(audio clip below :27 )

The six-thousand dollars would come from the City’s general fund Elevate Storm Lake allocation.

Only three of the five council members, Kevin McKinney, Matt Ricklefs, and Maggie Martinez were present for Monday’s meeting.
