DESCRIPTION:As the weather heats up and calendars begin to fill with summer activities and vacations\, blood donations often tend to drop. But the need for lifesaving blood products doesn’t go away. In fact\, someone’s life relies on a blood transfusion every two seconds. That’s why LifeServe Blood Center is hosting Blood Donor Days this June\, a month-long celebration of our generous donors. \nAll June long\, LifeServe will be handing out special prizes and giveaways. Blood donors at any mobile drive or donor center will not only walk away from donating knowing they saved or impacted up to three lives\, but they’ll also get our exclusive Blood Donor Days summer t-shirt and be automatically entered to win a weekly prize package. Additionally\, anyone who gives blood at a LifeServe donor center in June will get a scratch-off ticket with a chance to score local gift cards and prizes. DESCRIPTION:Summer has started and so has Naturalist Lunch Box programs! Naturalist Lunch Box is held at 12:00 PM on select Fridays in the summer at Storm Lake Marina. Pack a lunch and join the fun! Naturalist Lunch Box is designed for all ages. The naturalist will present a short program on a selected topic and have hands on activities for younger audience members. \nFriday\, June 19th at 12:00 PM will be the next Naturalist Lunchbox program of the summer. The topic for this week is bears. We will learn all about bears and go on a bear hunt in the park. \nStorm Lake Marina is located at 207 West Marina Road\, Storm Lake. If you plan on attending\, please let the Conservation Office know by Wednesday\, June 17th at 4:00 PM by calling 712-295-7985. SUMMARY:Nature Night ~ Owls & Stars
DESCRIPTION:The Nature Night series is back. This special event will be held once a month this summer. \nThe first Nature Night will focus on owls of Iowa and summer constellations. The program is scheduled for Friday\, June 19th at the Conservation Office at Buena Vista County Conservation Park. \nThe program is set to begin at 8:00 p.m. with Luna\, a barred owl\, and Odin\, a red-tailed hawk. These two live education birds will be on hand as participants learn about the raptors that rule the skies of Iowa. \nAt 9 p.m.\, everyone will head to woods to call for the species of owls that nest in the park. If weather permits\, there will be a lesson on the night sky\, including the moon\, planets\, and visible constellations. \nRegistration is required for this program.
